HISEM - Health Improvement Service for Ethnic Minorities
The Health Improvement Service - HISEM - works with people from the Ethnic Minority Communities, Overseas Students, Migrants, Asylum Seekers and Refugees in Newcastle. HISEM comes under The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Newcastle Hospitals Community Health umbrella.
The service provides confidential information and advice about:
- Healthy lifestyle issues
- Weight management
- Healthy eating
- Stop smoking
- Sexual Health
- Men's health
- Women's health
- Sexual transmitted infections.
The service employs Health Development Workers who have language skills and who are trained in healthy lifestyle issues and men and women's health. The service can provide a home visit, help you to register with a local doctor, support you to access health information and signpost you to other services.
