The Complementary Therapy project was established in 2001 to allow local residents with physical and mental health problems to access free complementary therapy treatments.

The project is staffed by seven qualified volunteer therapists and by students from Newcastle College's Complementary Therapy Department.

The project is currently able to offer seven different therapies:
- Aromatherapy Massage
- Bowen Technique
- Hot Stone Massage
- Indian Head Massage
- Reflexology
- Sports Massage
- Swedish Massage

The project is open to anyone from the Newcastle area with a physical or mental health problem which would benefit from the treatments and who could not access the therapies elsewhere for financial or accessibility reasons.

To access the project, clients must contact their GP or Primary Care Mental Health Worker and ask for a referral letter providing the following details:
- Clients Name, Address and Phone Number
- A description of their current problems
- Details of any other relevant medical conditions
- A list of any medications
- GPs name and contact information
